Hi all! It's been really long since my last post! Many things have been going on between the last post and this one! I resigned from my company on August 14, came back home, and experienced very unusually high rainfall in my state, Kerala during the monsoon season. It was the worst flooding in Kerala in nearly a century. It will always be a nightmare to all the people of Kerala and we all seriously pray and wish not a single person on this planet Earth should ever experience this :(
Kerala is a small state in the southern west coast of India which is beautiful and very much of a tourist attraction. Unsurprisingly this flood placed all the 14 districts of the states on red alert. Over 483 people died and 15 are missing. At least a million people were evacuated. 35 out of 44 dams within the state were opened for the first time in the history. I'm not going on and on with it! Actually speaking we are really trying our best to forget those days. Check out Wikipedia for more on Kerala Floods
But surely there are some things we people of Kerala won't forget and will always be grateful to - the local fishermen [whom we now refer to as the Supermen (pl. of Superman) of Kerala], Government of Kerala & India, Indian Army and Navy, NGOs and NPOs, Monetary aids from all States and Union Territories, again certain NGOs for offering Housing Projects for the Flood Victims, Corporates and Individuals. And the people of Kerala obviously requires a special mention! No wonder we are the highest literate state in India (for very long!). All the rescue and evacuation operations could have not been this successful had the people of Kerala not been cooperative and sensible of course. One can not imagine how active were we on Social Media to let the rescuers know of the situation. Another thing is that there were n number of relief camps put in safe places all over Kerala. And all people irrespective of religion, caste, creed, color and region, were donating food, clothes, blankets etc in most parts of India. Excellent! Even a website were put up for the Chief Minister of Kerala's Relief Fund immediately. And all the techies all over the world were into it. They made sure that website is error free and were constantly updating as it was very much active on git!
Once again, I should thank all the people who have taken real efforts here. May it be a monetary relief or not! A helping hand in this scenario can be anything! Literally anything! Phew! Once we were all settled down, it was time for me to fly to Germany. I joined Otto-Von-Guericke University in Magdeburg for MS in Data Knowledge and Engineering. So the Featured Image speaks a lot of my University! Classes have not yet started - which makes me more lazy! And here I am sitting in a very small room with many things around me. Too lazy to clean them up and organize. And if you know about Sundays in Germany, you might get me well! Else, I would recommend you to Google it out!
After a very light but healthy breakfast, thought of addressing everyone. It is 11.07 am right now, and I'm thinking of starting with my second part of Historic Hampi soon!
